The First in the Year
There’s something about the new year that seems to naturally bring about a review of what’s past and a plan for the future. Apparently I’ve been doing this sort of reflection for the last month or so: Getting things together for the new year; organizing materials that I want to post; re-looking at links to things I just never got around to posting last year… Some of these things are a German folk music program, some music for Advent that will explore the last four things, and I want to get a start on posting some of the family photos and documents that go back to my family’s Lutheran Church roots in the Wisconsin Synod.
But let’s start the new year right. Today is Saint Andrew’s Day: the first day on the sanctoral calendar, so let us raise a wee dram (I’m drinking Ardberg Corryvreckan.) to the patron of Scotland.
The painting of Saint Andrew above is by Kehinde Wiley, painted in 2006.
